Translate words directly in Firefox

Google Translate has become the defacto translation tool for most people today, but there are occasions when you don't want to open a new Window to work out the meaning of another word.

gTranslate Extension is a simple extension which automatically detects the language of the site you are visiting and performs translations accordingly. It uses Google Translate and you can translate any text in a webpage just by selecting and right-clicking over it. Although its only really designed for use with single words, it does work with small phrases as well.

However, speed is of the essence when you need to understand something in a hurry and all to often, gTranslate Extension doesn't translate very quickly if at all. On the plus side, it does support a large number of languages ranging from Arabic to Korean and Polish although these are obviously limited to whatever Google Translate supports.

If you work as a translator or need to perform translations without visiting Google Translate separately, gTranslate Extension is a decent if not perfect solution.
